Our Story
In 2008, our journey began in the verdant farmlands of Ecuador and Brazil, as we embarked on a volunteering project for local organic farms. While at one village farm, we experienced a coffee revelation. The farm owners—our gracious hosts—served us a simple yet extraordinary cup of coffee.
Bereft of sophisticated brewing methods, the freshly roasted ground beans were merely boiled in a large pot and served. This humble preparation unleashed flavors so extraordinarily rich and vibrant that it forever transformed our understanding of coffee. We discovered coffee in its purest essence, the innate freshness and unique flavors of the beans coming to the fore, reminding us of the subtle grace of tea, yet unquestionably coffee.
That unforgettable experience ignited in us a dream: to create a coffee brand dedicated to championing direct trade practices with Brazilian coffee beans. And thus, Thousand Acre Roastery was born. Our name echoes the expansive and pulsating thousand-acre coffee farms that not only nourish local communities but also safeguard the region's fragile ecosystem.
By building enduring relationships with local farmers, we're devoted to promoting sustainable practices and direct trade. Our beans, carefully roasted and ground-to-order, are a tribute to the unique terroir of Cerrado. This passion and dedication culminate in our specialty coffee that brings the robust, nutty, and complex flavors of Cerrado to the world, one cup at a time.
